If you look at a theme’s css, you will see the body tag such as:

body
{
background-image:url(‘supernatural.gif’);
background-repeat:no-repeat;
background-attachment:fixed;
background-position:center;
}

Background position will do what it says. It will position your background image to a specific region. In the example above, your background image would be centered.

Options you can use besides ‘center’.

left top
left center
left bottom
right top
right center
right bottom
center top
center center
center bottom

Now change the background-color to background-color:transparent;
